GiveSmart

WANDR redesigned and rebuilt GiveSmart's marketing website across its core pages, then engineered the platform's donor-facing event flows in Angular alongside their product team.

The Client

A mobile fundraising platform trusted by nonprofits nationwide.

Client product designed by WANDR

GiveSmart is a mobile event fundraising and silent-auction platform based in Atlanta, powering galas, benefit auctions, and giving campaigns for nonprofits, associations, and schools. Its marketing site is the front door for nonprofit buyers, and its consumer event flows are where guests sign in, buy tickets, and give at an event.

The platform was on a steep growth curve around our engagement. In the first half of 2018 the GiveSmart group of fundraising products powered more than 3,700 events and raised over $400 million, a 27% year-over-year increase. In 2019, GiveSmart was brought together with 501 Auctions and Gesture under Community Brands, later acquiring MobileCause in 2021 and being acquired by TA Associates in 2024. These figures describe the client's overall growth, not outcomes attributable to this engagement.

The Challenge

Two very different jobs, At the same time.

GiveSmart needed a marketing site that could sell the product to nonprofit buyers, and, in parallel, front-end engineering muscle to help build the consumer event flows inside its live platform. The two jobs ran on different stacks with different owners.

Problem 01

A marketing site that had to sell.

givesmart.com needed to present the product, pricing, and proof clearly across many pages, with lead-capture that actually converted browsers into demo requests.

Problem 02

Front-end build inside a live product.

On the consumer event site, GiveSmart owned the design, UX, and backend. WANDR had to build the front end to their RFP, existing architecture, and defined acceptance criteria.

Problem 03

Sprint-paced, dependency-heavy delivery.

The platform work ran in two-week iterations, with each sprint gated on the client's backend readiness and their sign-off on acceptance criteria.

Problem 04

One relationship, many moving parts.

Design revisions on the marketing site and engineering tickets on the platform advanced at the same time, across US and UK stakeholders.

Before / After

The same marketing site, rebuilt to Sell the product.

The core of the design track was a full redesign of the GiveSmart marketing site, from the homepage and pricing to the product, resources, and gallery pages, designed in Sketch and built page by page.

Our Role

Design lead on the site, front-end muscle on the platform.

01
UI/UX design of the givesmart.com marketing site, in Sketch
02
Front-end build of 10+ marketing pages, including home, pricing, product, resources, and gallery
03
HubSpot Contact and Demo lead-capture pages, with API integration
04
Iterative design revisions and site maintenance across multiple rounds of client feedback
05
Architecture review and system-design documentation against GiveSmart's RFP
06
Angular screen development for the consumer event flows: sign up, sign in, buy tickets, make a donation
07
HTML/CSS/JS build, REST API integration, and tests, delivered in two-week sprints
The Strategy

Make the site clear, and build the product to Their system.

01

Clarity for buyers.

Redesign the marketing pages so a nonprofit buyer grasps the product and pricing fast, and make lead-capture the obvious next step.

02

Consistency across pages.

Bring home, pricing, product, resources, and gallery under one clean, current visual system.

03

Build to their system.

Engineer the donor flows to GiveSmart's RFP, architecture, and acceptance criteria, not in isolation.

04

Ship in iterations.

Deliver the platform work in two-week sprints so each piece integrated as it went.

THE KEY INSIGHT

One client can need two different kinds of partner.

GiveSmart did not need a single service. It needed a design-led team to own its marketing site, and a front-end team to extend its product on the client's own terms. The useful lesson is that WANDR could be both: leading the work where design was the job, and slotting cleanly into a client's stack where engineering was. Naming that split honestly is what makes the relationship repeatable.

Client Voice

In their words.

“
We came to WANDR to modernize our marketing site and to add front-end capacity to our product team, and they moved on both. They redesigned our pages, built the lead-capture flows, and plugged into our sprint process on the platform side. It was a genuine extension of our team rather than a hand-off to an outside vendor.
